Short answer: IPTV works well in Ottawa and Gatineau on Bell, Rogers or Vidéotron internet. For 2026–27, Senators regional games stay on TSN 5 in English and RDS in French, national games are on Sportsnet and TVA Sports, and the Redblacks are on TSN. Bilingual homes should pick the Full package, wire the main TV if they can, and test a game night during the free 24-hour trial.
Where are Senators games on TV in Ottawa this season?
Most Senators games in Ottawa are on TSN 5 in English and RDS in French. In April 2026, Bell Media and the Senators announced a long-term extension of their regional deal, so the local package stayed put for 2026–27. TSN 5 is the TSN feed for eastern Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada, which is why fans in Gatineau, Cornwall and Moncton see the same regional games you do.
Every game outside that package is national. Sportsnet holds the English national rights under Rogers’ 12-year NHL contract, which begins this season, and TVA Sports carries the national French games under a sublicence from Rogers. The change Ottawa living rooms notice most: CBC has stopped showing NHL games on Saturday nights. The Rogers–CBC arrangement ended after the 2025–26 playoffs, so Saturday hockey now lives on Sportsnet.
There are also more nights to plan around. Starting in 2026–27, NHL teams play 84 regular-season games instead of 82.
Finding tonight’s game in the channel list
- Check the broadcaster first. The Senators’ official site lists the network for each game.
- Pick the feed by name. Regional English games are on TSN 5 and regional French games on RDS. National English games are on Sportsnet, and when two games overlap, one may move to Sportsnet One or Sportsnet 360.
- Search the TV guide. Most player apps, TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro included, show the game title in the guide (EPG), so searching for “Senators” is often quicker than scrolling.
Redblacks, Atlético Ottawa and the Charge: what do you tune to?
Ottawa’s other pro teams are spread across TSN, RDS and CBC. Here is where each one lands this season, with the start times you can expect on Ottawa clocks.
| Team | League and home | English TV | French TV | Usual Ottawa start time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Senators | NHL · Canadian Tire Centre, Kanata | TSN 5 (regional), Sportsnet (national) | RDS (regional), TVA Sports (national) | Usually 7 p.m. at home; 9 p.m. in Calgary or Edmonton; 10 p.m. in Vancouver |
| Redblacks | CFL · TD Place, Lansdowne | TSN, every game in 2026 | RDS, selected games | Mostly evening kickoffs, with some weekend afternoons |
| Atlético Ottawa | CPL · TD Place, Lansdowne | TSN Match of the Week, CBC and CBC Gem (selected) | Rare; French CPL coverage centres on Montreal’s FC Supra | Weekend afternoons and weeknight evenings |
| Ottawa Charge | PWHL · Canadian Tire Centre (new this season) | CBC, TSN or Sportsnet, game by game | ICI Radio-Canada Télé or RDS for selected games | Home opener Sunday, December 6, at 2 p.m. |
Two of these need a caveat. Atlético Ottawa started 2026 as the reigning CPL champions, but only some CPL matches reach TV: TSN has a weekly Match of the Week, CBC and CBC Gem take selected games, and the rest stream only on the league’s own partner. So no channel list, ours included, will have every Atlético match. The CPL regular season ends Sunday, October 25, and the playoffs are set to air on TSN and CBC.
The Charge move from TD Place to Canadian Tire Centre for 2026–27. The PWHL’s opening weekend is December 5–6, and the Charge open at home against the Toronto Sceptres. PWHL games have been shared between CBC, TSN, RDS and Sportsnet in recent seasons, and CBC has announced eight Saturday-night PWHL games under the Hockey Night in Canada name this season. The PWHL schedule shows the channel for each game.
Junior hockey works differently. The 67’s at TD Place and the Olympiques across the river in Gatineau mostly stream through their leagues, and only selected games reach TSN, RDS or TVA Sports.
Which package suits a bilingual Ottawa–Gatineau home?
Choose the Full package if anyone in your home watches in French. The English-only package is a shorter list built around English-language channels, so don’t count on RDS, TVA, Noovo, ICI Radio-Canada Télé or Télé-Québec being in it. The Full package keeps both languages in one guide, plus channels from other countries.
This matters more here than in most Canadian cities. About one Ottawa resident in eight (12.5% in the 2021 census) has French as a mother tongue, Gatineau is mostly French-speaking, and plenty of families live on one side of the river and work, study or play hockey on the other. A common weeknight: the six o’clock news on CTV for the adults, Télé-Québec for the kids, then the Sens on RDS because that’s the call the family grew up with.
Ottawa is also home to large communities whose first language is neither English nor French. Arabic and Chinese have long been among the most common non-official mother tongues in the city, and Spanish is widely spoken too. The Full package groups international channels by country, but channel line-ups shift over time and we can’t guarantee any one of them. Look up the exact channels your family watches during the trial, before you pay.
Check local news the same way. CTV and CBC both run Ottawa newsrooms, and ICI Radio-Canada Télé and TVA cover Ottawa–Gatineau in French. A channel list may carry the Ottawa edition of a network or a feed from Toronto or Montreal, so search for the local one by name. French speakers in the Outaouais can read notre page IPTV à Gatineau, and our post on French-language channels such as RDS, TVA and Noovo walks through the French line-up.
Bell, Rogers or Vidéotron: what changes for IPTV in Ottawa?
The brand on your modem matters less than how your TV reaches it. On the Ontario side, Bell sells fibre and Rogers runs the cable network. In Gatineau, Vidéotron is the cable company and Bell sells fibre there too. Independent providers such as TekSavvy rent access on those same lines. Any of them can carry an HD stream when the home network is set up well, and none of them needs to sell you a TV package for IPTV to work.
What really changes from one home to the next is the building.
Condos in Centretown, the ByWard Market and Little Italy
In a tower you may see thirty or forty Wi-Fi networks from your couch. The 2.4 GHz band fills up first, so put the streaming device on 5 GHz and keep the router out in the open, not shut inside the small network cabinet by the door. If the TV is within reach of that cabinet, a single Ethernet cable often does more than a new router would.
Older houses in the Glebe, Old Ottawa South and Hintonburg
Brick, plaster and lath walls soak up Wi-Fi. If the modem lives in the basement and the TV is two floors up, the signal can look fine at noon and turn patchy on a busy evening. A mesh system with a wired link between units, or a pair of powerline adapters, usually solves it. Run the connection check on our home page from the room where the TV is, not from beside the router.
Suburbs: Kanata, Barrhaven, Orléans and Stittsville
Newer houses are easier on Wi-Fi, but evenings are when the whole street streams at once. If channels stutter only between about 7 and 11 p.m., read why IPTV slows down in the evening on Bell and Rogers before buying new equipment. The tests in that post show whether the slowdown is inside your house or beyond it.
For planning, budget about 10 Mbps for each Full HD stream and 5 Mbps for each HD one. A Senators game in Full HD in the living room plus an HD cartoon upstairs comes to about 15 Mbps; add roughly 30% headroom for phones and laptops and you want about 20 Mbps free at puck drop. 4K needs 25 Mbps per stream, and it only appears where the broadcaster sends 4K.

Does IPTV work in rural Ottawa?
It can, as long as your connection stays steady in the evening. The City of Ottawa reaches far past the Greenbelt, into villages like Constance Bay, Carp, Metcalfe and Navan, where many homes use Starlink, Xplore or a local fixed-wireless tower instead of cable or fibre. The same goes for cottages in the Gatineau Hills and along the Rideau.
- Aim for HD, not 4K. An HD channel needs about 5 Mbps. 4K needs 25 Mbps, which is a lot to hold steady on a shared wireless link.
- Watch your data cap. Full HD uses about 3 GB an hour, so a three-hour Redblacks game is roughly 9 GB. On a capped plan, a season adds up quickly.
- Test at the worst time. Play a channel on a weeknight around 8 p.m., not on a quiet Sunday morning.

Is IPTV Rich right for you in Ottawa?
It’s a good fit if you want the Senators, the Redblacks and TV in both official languages in one place, without a cable bundle. A bilingual couple who watch on two screens at once can take 2 devices for 12 months at $128, paid once by Interac e-Transfer, with nothing renewing on its own. All twelve prices are on the IPTV subscription page, and the home page explains how our IPTV Canada service works from start to finish.
It’s not the right choice if:
- You mostly watch Crave, Netflix or YouTube. You don’t need live channels for that.
- Your rural line already drops out in the evening, or your plan has a small data cap.
- You need every Atlético Ottawa match. Some only stream on the league’s own service.
- You want to phone someone or visit a store. We have no phone line and no office. Help is by live chat on the support page, every day from 9 a.m. to midnight Eastern, and by email at help@supportiptv.ca.

Ottawa IPTV questions
Can I watch Senators games in French on RDS?
Yes. RDS is in the Full package, and it keeps the Senators’ regional French games in 2026–27 under Bell Media’s renewed deal. National French games are on TVA Sports, which is also in the Full package.
Why isn’t CBC showing the Sens on Saturday night anymore?
The agreement that let CBC air NHL games ended after the 2025–26 season and was not renewed. Saturday NHL games are now on Sportsnet. CBC kept the Hockey Night in Canada name and is using it for eight PWHL games this season.
Does IPTV Rich work with Vidéotron internet in Gatineau?
Yes. IPTV only needs an internet connection, so it runs on Vidéotron, Bell, Rogers or an independent provider. You keep the internet plan and can drop the TV package. For the steadiest picture, connect the main TV with an Ethernet cable.
Can I use one subscription in Ottawa and at the cottage?
You can install the app at both places. One device on the plan means one stream playing at a time, so if someone watches in the city while you watch at the lake, you need a 2-device plan. Test the cottage connection on an evening before you rely on it.
What if my stream fails during a late game out West?
A Senators game in Vancouver starts at 10 p.m. Ottawa time and can run past midnight, which is when our live chat desk closes. An automatic assistant may answer, and the team replies in the morning. If you’re unsure about your setup, ask in the afternoon before the game.
