Short answer: IPTV Rich works across Calgary on Telus PureFibre, Rogers (the former Shaw cable network) or any steady line, and on Starlink out on the acreages. Regional Flames games are on Sportsnet West, national games on Sportsnet, and the Stampeders are on TSN. This year the Grey Cup comes to McMahon Stadium on November 15, on CTV, TSN and RDS.
What’s on for Calgary sports fans through the year?
Something is always in season. Here’s the year at a glance, with where each team’s games air.
| Team | League | When | Where to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flames | NHL | Regular season September 29, 2026 to April 10, 2027 | Sportsnet West (regional), Sportsnet (national), TVA Sports (French) |
| Stampeders | CFL | June to late October, playoffs in November | TSN, and RDS in French |
| 113th Grey Cup | CFL | Sunday, November 15, 2026, at McMahon Stadium | CTV, TSN and RDS |
| Cavalry FC | CPL | April to late October; playoffs from October 31 | The league’s broadcast partners (listed on the CPL site) |
| Wranglers, Hitmen, Roughnecks | AHL, WHL, NLL | Fall to spring | Each team lists its own broadcasts |
Flames games in 2026–27
Regional Flames games are on Sportsnet West, under a deal that runs to 2035. National games are on Sportsnet, including Saturday Night Hockey, which took over the Saturday slot from Hockey Night in Canada on October 3; CBC no longer carries the NHL. This is also expected to be the last season at the Scotiabank Saddledome: Scotia Place, the new arena being built nearby, is planned to open for 2027–28, with the Wranglers, Hitmen and Roughnecks moving in too. The official Flames schedule has every date.
Calgary is on Mountain Time, two hours behind Toronto. A home game at 7 p.m. is 7 p.m. here, but a Leafs or Canadiens home game listed at 7 p.m. Eastern starts at 5 p.m. in Calgary. Saturday doubleheaders have traditionally started around 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern, which is 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. here. Battle of Alberta nights against the Oilers are on Sportsnet West or national Sportsnet, depending on the game.
Grey Cup week at McMahon
This year the Grey Cup is in Calgary, so a lot of Calgarians will be watching on TV while the city fills up with visiting fans. The 113th Grey Cup is on Sunday, November 15, on CTV and TSN in English and RDS in French. Kickoff is usually in the early evening Eastern, which is late afternoon in Calgary; check the listing that week on CFL.ca. Our guide to watching the CFL and the Grey Cup in Canada covers the playoff weekends before it.
If you’re hosting a Grey Cup party with the game on two TVs, that’s two streams playing at once, so you’ll need the 2-device plan or a single screen.
Telus or Rogers in Calgary: what matters for streaming?
Either works. Calgary is a two-network city, and the important difference is fibre versus cable, not the logo.
- Telus PureFibre brings fibre to the home in much of the city, including many newer communities. On fibre, the line itself is rarely what slows a game down. Wi-Fi inside the house is the usual suspect.
- Rogers runs the cable network Shaw built. Shaw was a Calgary company, headquartered here, until Rogers bought it in 2023 and moved its services to the Rogers name. A lot of Calgarians still say they’re “on Shaw”. Cable is shared by the homes on your neighbourhood node, so evenings can get busier.
- Independent providers rent Telus or Rogers lines and behave like the network underneath.
Bonus rooms, basements and infills
A typical suburban Calgary house puts the internet where the line comes in, often the basement mechanical room, and the big TV two floors up in a bonus room over the garage. That’s a long way for Wi-Fi to travel through floors and ductwork. Three fixes, in order of effort:
- Move the router up. Run a longer cable from the wall jack and put the router on the main floor, out in the open.
- Add a wired mesh point. A mesh unit near the bonus room, connected back by cable or by MoCA over existing coax, is far steadier than one that relays over Wi-Fi.
- Cable the main TV. If the game still stutters at the same time every evening, test plugged in. If wired is fine, Wi-Fi was the problem.
Inner-city infills and older bungalows in neighbourhoods like Bowness or Bridgeland have the opposite problem: shorter distances, but more neighbours’ networks close by. Moving the TV device to 5 GHz usually helps there. Our Fire TV Stick setup guide shows the network screens.
Does IPTV work on an acreage outside Calgary?
Yes, if the connection holds steady in the evening. First, a distinction: Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere, Okotoks and High River are mostly served by the same Telus and Rogers networks as Calgary itself, so the advice above applies there. It’s the land between them that’s different. In Rocky View County, Foothills County, Springbank, Bearspaw, Priddis or out toward Bragg Creek, homes often run on Starlink, a fixed wireless tower or older DSL rather than city fibre.
| Acreage connection | What usually works | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Starlink | HD and Full HD; 4K where the broadcast has it and the speed holds 25 Mbps | Trees and outbuildings blocking the dish; heavy snow |
| Fixed wireless tower | HD (5 Mbps per stream) | Evening dips when the tower is busy; line of sight |
| Rural DSL | SD or HD, depending on distance from the cabinet | A low ceiling at every hour |
Data matters as much as speed on a capped plan. Full HD uses about 3 GB an hour, so a Flames game with the pre-game show is close to 9 GB, and 4K is 7 to 10 GB an hour. Our guide to IPTV on rural internet with Starlink, Xplore and fixed wireless goes through the settings to change.
Full package or English-only for a Calgary home?
If the TV is mostly Flames, Stamps and the six o’clock news, English-only is enough. If anyone at home watches in another language, choose Full, which adds international channels and French channels such as RDS and ICI Radio-Canada Télé.
Calgary has grown fast, and the city’s census data, published on the Open Calgary portal, shows it. Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi are common in the northeast, Tagalog is spoken across the city, and Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Arabic and Vietnamese all have large communities. We don’t promise a specific channel from a specific country, because international line-ups change, so search for the one you care about during the trial.
Can you watch Calgary local news?
Yes. The Calgary stations of CTV, Global and Citytv carry the local news, and CBC has its own Calgary newscast. When it’s a hailstorm warning, a flood watch on the Bow and Elbow, or Stampede week traffic, those are the channels to have on, with CBC News Network and CTV News Channel for the national picture. Catch-up on supported channels lets you go back to a newscast you missed. Local feeds do change from time to time, so check for your station in the guide during the trial.

When is IPTV Rich not the right call in Calgary?
It’s a good fit for a Flames and Stamps household that wants Sportsnet West, TSN and the national games in one guide, paid once. It isn’t a good fit when:
- You only care about the Flames. If every other channel is irrelevant to you, Sportsnet+ on its own may be simpler.
- Your acreage line can’t hold 5 Mbps in the evening. Live sport will stall. Fix the connection first, or stick to watching in town.
- You want help during a late game. Our live chat runs from 9 a.m. to midnight Eastern, which is 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Calgary, so an 8 p.m. Saturday game ends after the desk closes. Set up and test before game night.
How much is it in Calgary?
The same as everywhere: one device for one month is $17, three months is $27, and twelve months is $77. A Grey Cup party with two TVs needs the 2-device plan, $28 for a month. You pay once by Interac e-Transfer, from ATB or any other Canadian bank’s app, and nothing renews on its own. All twelve plan totals are on our IPTV subscription page, and the best IPTV Canada overview on our home page covers what’s in every plan.

Questions Calgarians ask
Are Flames games on Sportsnet West this season?
Regional games are. National games are on Sportsnet, including Saturday Night Hockey. Monday games stream only on Sportsnet+ and Wednesday national games only on Prime Video.
Can I watch the Grey Cup at home in Calgary?
Yes. The 113th Grey Cup on November 15 airs on CTV and TSN in English and RDS in French, all part of the Canadian channel list.
My bill still says Shaw. Does that matter?
No. Shaw’s cable network now belongs to Rogers, and IPTV works on it like on any other line. What matters is a steady 10 Mbps per Full HD screen in the evening.
Does IPTV work on Starlink in Rocky View County?
Usually, yes. Keep the dish clear of trees, use the HD version of a channel if Full HD stalls, and watch your data if your plan has a cap.
What time do Leafs and Canadiens games start in Calgary?
Two hours earlier than the Eastern listing: a 7 p.m. Eastern game is on at 5 p.m. in Calgary. If you need help, the live chat on our support page is open until 10 p.m. Mountain.
